The Templeton Walkway, Glasgow

A former railway route in Glasgow received the green treatment and many feet will tread a new path along it in the coming months.

The Templeton Walkway, just off Glencoe Street, received a facelift involving the removal of unsafe trees by tree surgeons, and the planting of the new saplings by local Scouts, Brownies and Guides, and children from the nearby school. A wildflower meadow will also be created on the site for a neighbouring school, meaning that the entire area can be used as an outdoor classroom for environmental education.

The trees for Templeton Walkway were sponsored by Pathway. Templeton Walkway has already had a tarmac footpath constructed, and members of the local council, with Brownies and Guides, showed representatives of Tree Appeal and Pathway how the trees will make a difference in their area of the city.

Steve White from Pathway said, “I’ve been so impressed by what I’ve seen in this community. Everyone has come together to reinvigorate and revive this area, and we are delighted to be a part of that. We at Pathway are passionate about helping the environment and it’s great to be able to contribute to a community who are just as passionate, and who will care for the trees we will plant here.”

Councillor Jonathon Findlay said, “We are delighted that Pathway and Tree Appeal are working with the council on this project, which is part of our strategy to improve local environment in the Anniesland area. The addition of 100 hundred trees from Pathway really is the icing on the cake for what has been planned. I know that the council and the people of surrounding area will be very grateful for their contribution.”
